In September 2019 Alcester Singers held a singing workshop to encourage people to experience performing as part of a choir. Over 50 people took part in the afternoon event which culminated in an evening concert to family and friends to show what had been achieved during the day. The participants learnt six songs ranging from the modern classic ‘Blue Moon’, recorded by the likes of the Supremes and Frank Sinatra; to traditional folk songs and the choral masterpiece the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ from the Messiah by Handel.

Those that took part described the event as ‘uplifting and enjoyable’. Marie Flint, Alcester Singers Chairman, said ‘ We hope that by putting on this workshop more people will have discovered the joy of singing as part of a choir and will be inspired to join one.’ Alcester Singers is currently looking for new members, no audition is necessary and the choir is open to all that love to sing.
